So I took my bike in back in early June to be serviced and to diagnose a problem I was having with the bike starting. About every week I would get a call from them saying they had found something else wrong with the bike. I said ok, just go ahead and fix whatever is wrong with it and by the time everything was said and done I'm $4,000 dollars into what should have been a simple service and diagnosis. That's a little ridiculous on the cost, especially considering the bike books for about $8,000, but its is a 2010 Dyna Super Glide Custom so it's not outside the realm of possibilities that it needed some maintenance. Finally after months of sitting in the shop they call me and say my bike is done and I can come pick it up. I go in speak with the lady at the service desk, pay the $4,000, and the bring my bike out. I walk over to the bike look it over and everything appears to be fine. I go to start it and it just cranks and cranks and will not start. I go back over to the service desk and inform the lady there that my bike won't start. She calls a tech over and after a while of messing with it he gets it started. Immediately it's idling very high. He says that it doesn't sound right and I agree. He looks at a few things and realizes the idler cable is broken, though it definitely wasn't when I brought it in. The tech checks and they don't have the idle cable I need in stock and they tell me they'll have to order it. I could have pitched a fit right then and there about how they broke my cable and clearly didn't do the billion point inspection or cable and clutch adjustment that I paid for, since they did call and say my bike was good to go, but the guy said he wasn't the tech who worked on my bike, so I say ok, just fix it and let me know when it's ready assuming they were going to make it right. Yesterday comes and I get a call from a service rep saying they're going to charge me $400 to replace my cable, oh and by the way my battery had also apparently gone bad while sitting in their shop for the last 2 months and needs to be replaced which will be another $200. I say I don't think so you guys broke my cable and my battery was fine when I brought it in. My question is how did they miss those two things before when they called and said my bike was good if they had really done everything they charged me for? Needless to say I will never bring my bike back to this stealer-ship for anything. They call me to tell me bike is good and ready to be picked up and then when I show up not only is there a problem that they caused, but they want me to pay for what they broke. I definitely would not recommend their service department for anything. They way over charged me for a simple service and then can't tell that there's a problem before they call me and say my bike is good to go. If I had gotten out on the road with that broken cable, it could have been really bad, so thank God it wouldn't start when I first got there. They have the nerve to expect me to pay to fix what they broke and when I bring that up I'm told that's the way it is and to basically deal with it or come get the bike as is. Completely unacceptable. I'm picking up the bike Monday and taking it to a local guy instead of the stealer-ship. I'll never deal with them again or spend another dime at Harley Davidson if that's how they treat their customers. I've got a ton of free Harley shirts and hats if anyone wants them. I want nothing else to do with the brand at all after dealing with Man O War Harley Davidson.
